Dear Amy, Bishop and 16th Ward Members:
I understand the winter weather in Utah and everywhere else has been brutal. Yup! Nice and warm here—balmy! We’re enjoying our experience very much! Again, it’s sure a lot of work—early morning with gym and exercise until 10:00 pm for a needed and appreciated sleep! We eat with the missionaries most of the meals. They try to feed us to death—far too much food for my little body! I wanted to lose some weight but they’re sure making it hard. And, I quite enjoy the Philippine food most of the time—except when a fish’s or shrimp’s eye is staring out at me! They eat a lot more meat here than I am used to—chicken, beef, pork and some fish. Many of the missionaries have never eaten so well or so much.
Our first full group/class (batch, as they call it here) will be leaving tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday. We can hardly bear to say good-bye to them! We have grown so very close in such a short time. We get a short brief day to breathe and then we start all over again with a new group!
But we love it and we love these missionaries! They are so sweet, pure, innocent, willing and humble. I start crying when I think or talk about them or to them. From all different countries and cultures, they bond strongly together. Debbie, Sister Taylor is in 7th Heaven. She is loving them and her experience and wow, is she good with the missionaries! They just love her so much. She asked me this morning if there is anything at all that I would rather be doing than this? I couldn’t think of a single thing.
But, maybe someday I’ll get used to driving a bit more. My great challenge is still ahead. It’s not that I am so afraid to drive—it’s just that I don’t know where I’m going!
There’s a billion things I would like to share, but the “art is long and the time is short!
We love and miss all of our dear friends in the Ward
So, Magandang hapon!
George & Debbie
